CLIENT SERVICES - CHILDREN'S RESPITE PROGRAM

Steppin' Stones

Over the years NOWCAP Services has been a choice for families, and now with the desire to emphasize a children's program as a strong option for families, Step 'N Stones has been developed.

NOWCAP Services is certified by the State of Wyoming, Developmental Disabilities Division to provide children's services for the Home and Community Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver. These services include Individually Selected-service Coordination (Case Management), Respite Care, Residential Habilitation Training, Skilled Nursing, and Residential Habilitation.

Step'N Stones provides temporary, short-term relief for a family or primary caregiver on a regular or as-needed basis Monday through Friday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., overnights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays as needed. These services are provided in a community site or in home settings. Step'N Stones has designed a safe, stimulating, active, warm and nurturing program for children with developmental disabilities between the ages of 6-10 and 11-18.

Our program will involve families in service design and delivery whether they are receiving developmental disabilities Medicaid waiver dollars or not. To be eligible, children or young adults must have a diagnosis of mental retardation or a related condition. Individuals with a severe, chronic disability attributable to cerebral palsy or a seizure disorder or any other condition other than mental illness closely related to mental retardation, are also included. These conditions are included due to the result in impairments of general intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior similar to that of persons with mental retardation.

Our fees then will be based on the Individual Budget Amount (IBA) for the child determined by the Developmental Disabilities Division or on a financial sliding scale per Department of Family Services guidelines.

Recently opened in late May 2005 with excited and caring personnel who are ready for the warm and busy summer months ahead.

Step together one stone at a time as a family.
