CLIENT SERVICES - DAY SERVICES
Community based Day Services programming provides a safe and supportive environment to help participants learn to take charge of their lives and become more active in their communities. Individuals and specialized groups are taught to incorporate a variety of learning styles and ability levels using customized learning plans. Education and life skills topics include:
- Community Skills
- Computer
- Culture
- Current Events
- Life Skills
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Nutrition and Food Preparation
- Safety and First Aid
- Arts Curriculum
- Exercise Curriculum
In addition to the regular
groups, access
to a computer lab with
standardized software and
high-speed Internet connections
is provided. During the
day computer classes are
used for email, typing
and working on resumes.
NOWCAP Services also provides evaluation and skill development through sheltered workshops. Individuals have the opportunity to learn new job skills and compensation on the following crews:
- Wood shop -
The wood shop builds
and refinishes furniture.
After on the job training
and safety compliance,
participants have the opportunity
to work in a paid position
at a specialized job.
- Fishing Tackle - Through research, participants have designed fishing lures to temp even the most resistant Wyoming Trout. Through a sheltered workshop, participants design, manufacture and package the NOWCATCH lures, which have been critiqued by our local sports editor.
- Janitorial Crew - The janitorial crew develops a range of skills within a structured environment. Through the JWOD contract additional crews fulfill FAA janitorial services while utilizing staff support.
- Lawn Crew -
The Lawn Crew does a
variety of jobs from
wood cutting and bundling
to maintaining lawns
in the summer months.
In addition, this crew
maintains State parks
over the summer through
a contract with the Bureau
of Land Management.
In addition to pre vocational and vocational training, the Day Services Program also provides opportunities for community inclusion. Regular community outings are scheduled based on client preferences and educational opportunities.
