Rock Springs is known
as the home of 56 nationalities;
a true melting pot. Formed
by the railroad and coal
mines, Rock Springs offers
a variety of recreational
opportunities for visitors
and residents alike.
Established in 1888 as
a mining town, the natural
resources around the
area are the driving
force behind the Rock
Springs economy.
The Sand Dunes, just a few miles north of Rock Springs, are the largest in North America. As you approach modern-day Rock Springs, you can almost imagine earlier travelers bouncing along the Overland Stage Route toward the welcome stage station that was the beginning of the town in 1862. For years the area provided millions of tons of coal to feed the nation's locomotives. Today, the Rock Springs area continues to have a leadership role in the nation's energy production.
In 2005, the community asked for a choice in service providers and the NOWCAP Services Program in Rock Springs was formed. In searching for facilities and program initiatives the community of Rock Springs has responded with support and welcome. While Rock Springs is a true melting pot, those who live and work there want the choice to stay in the area. The NOWCAP Services center provides that opportunity to participants and families of people with disabilities.
Rock Springs NOWCAP Services is currently accepting qualified participants into our dynamic and innovative program. A full range of services is currently available, including Case Management, Day Programs, Community & Organizational Employment & Residential Services.
