OUTREACH OFFICES - WORLAND / THERMOPOLIS

The Worland area, which is nestled within the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains, is centrally located in the northern portion of Wyoming. The Big Horns offer the outdoor enthusiast summer activities including: boating, some of the finest fishing around, hiking, picnicking, photography, fossil hunting, camping and peaceful moments in wilderness areas which allow time to contemplate the splendor and beauty of the region.

This is the same land that was precious to the Native American: an area the Sioux, Crow and Blackfoot Indians fought for. The highest point, Cloud Peak, is located 13,125 feet above sea level. Wildlife abounds in the region; Elk, antelope, mule deer and upland game birds represent the diversity of habitat. The amazing geography changes from mountains to badlands between Ten Sleep and Worland. This area, in fact, had been covered by water during its history. Many fish and amphibious fossils have been uncovered revealing the true diversity of this area.

In keeping with the history and pride of the area, NOWCAP Services provides the residents of the Big Horn Basin the opportunity to live and work in their native land. The NOWCAP Services Program based in Worland, Wyoming, offers a full range of services for people with disabilities. The Worland program takes pride in offering the opportunity of independence through apartment living. The handicapped accessible four-plex displays a neutral décor so that participants have the chance to individualize their homes. The 24-hour staffing affords participants the option of group or individual recreational choices.

Knowing the significance of families in peoples’ lives and the important source of natural supports that they provide, NOWCAP Services strongly encourages families to be involved with the individuals we support. Staff works to help facilitate involvement based on individual circumstances and needs. The ability to live and work in your hometown is of great importance to those within the State of Wyoming.
